Olaitan WC hopes dashed, out for 'several months'

Michael Olaitan's hopes of gate crashing into the Nigeria World Cup party have been dealt a major blow after it was revealed he could be out for "several months".

The 21-year-old Nigeria U20 star has shone brightly for Greek champions Olympiacos so much so that former Nigeria World Cup star Sunday Oliseh has already declared he is ready to feature at Brazil 2014.

We can specially reveal that Olaitan, who will only be discharged from hospital on Sunday is most likely to be out of action for several months, according to a source at his Greek club Olympiacos.

Initial diagnosis suggest the promising midfielder may have suffered from a viral infection when he fell unchallenged in the first half of the Athens derby against Panathinaikos.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have already send through to Olympiacos a medical of the player done prior to the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey.
