It was another existing Interhouse sport competition at Igbobi College Yaba (I.C.Y) yesterday, 6th November 2013, as it showcased great excitement to all attendants and showcased many talents within the college and other invited schools.
The competition, which happens to be the 78th Annual Inter house sports competition the school organised,comprised of various Athletics competitions and a match past as Aggrey house (blue house) emerged winners,with Oluwole house ( Yellow house) and Townsend house (Red house) coming up in 2nd and 3rd respectively. From behind,are Freeman house (green house) and Parker house (purple house) coming up 5th and 4th respectively.
Also Peter Kingsley, of Parker house, won the Victor Ludorum award for being the best Athlete of the competition even though his house didn't win the competition. Townsend house won the match past after a very entertaining and uniform presentation.
Furthermore, the inter house competition also brought together eighteen schools from different parts of Lagos, as they contested against each other in an invitational relay race. C.M.S Boys showed their superiority on the track as they came up top in the male relay race beating Baptist Boys and Methodist Boys who came up 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In the female invitational relay race, Queens College girls showed their superiority as they came out top and defeated Reagan Memorial and Methodist girls who came out 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Other exciting Sporting events took place e.g parents race, Staff race and Old boys race and it brought out the Athleticism of our senior citizens.
The event saw sport personalities including the National President Nigeria Association Of Athletics Technical Official (NAATO Lagos state Chapter) Mr Segun Omodunni, amongst others. Also attending were old boys of various sets including the President of Igbobi College Old Boys Association (ICOBA) Eng Babatunde Ipaye.
Among Secondary Schools in Nigeria, Igbobi College Yaba Could be said to be one of the greatest producers of notable Nigerians especially Sportsmen, as it was the Alma mata of ex-internationals, Dosu Joseph and Abiodun Baruwa amongst others.
