Emenike escapes irate fans after goal

Emmanuel Emenike scored his ninth league goal for Fenerbahce only for the tie at Trabzonspor to be abandoned following crowd trouble Monday.

Emmanuel Emenike put the league leaders ahead at the Huseyin Avni Aker Stadyumu in the 23rd minute, but the game was called off due to safety concerns after objects were thrown onto the field.

After a number of stoppages, referee Bulent Yildirim opted to call time on the match, leaving Fener with a game in hand on their title rivals.

Emenike and his Fener team mates escaped unhurt amidst several objects thrown unto the pitch.

The Turkey Football Federation will now rule on the game.

Fenerbache lead the standings on 51 points from 23 matches, three points clear of champions of Galatasaray, who have played 24 games.
