Lahm could play midfield for Germany

Bayern Munich star Philipp Lahm believes he could play as a midfielder for Germany in the 2014 World Cup.

The 30-year-old has found himself filling a new role for his club since the arrival of Pep Guardiola last summer after spending his entire career at full-back.

With Sami Khedira, Ilkay Gundogan and Sven Bender all nursing long-term injuries just four months before the tournament, Lahm says he would be happy to play in midfield alongside for his country, whether with Bastian Shweinsteiger or Toni Kroos.

"We have played together as a double six, but every opponent was very deep, so we had to move a lot," he told Bild.

"Everything is an option. We played at Bayern earlier this season, also with Toni Kroos, when Thiago [Alcantara] was still injured. We train together every day, so it's possible."
