Big-paying Sunshine Stars have slashed the salaries of their players as they demand much more from them in the coming season.
The Akure club, who paid Godfrey Oboabona 650,000 Naira (about $3800) as monthly salary last season, have now set a salary cap of 300,000 Naira (less than $2,000).
However, Sunshine have upped their win bonuses with a player to earn as much as 100,000 Naira for an away win and half that sum for a home victory.
Recently appointed club boss Akin Akinbobola has swung into action as he tries to reposition the club after they struggled to stay up last season.
Two years ago, Sunshine reached the semi-final of the CAF Champions League, but they finished a disappointing 12th with 52 points from 38 matches.
