Imenger saves CHAN Eagles

CHAN-bound Eagles drew 1-1 with non-league Gokana United courtesy of a Barnabas Imenger first half strike on Saturday.

Lobi Stars striker Imenger, who played in Sweden for Trelleborgs FF until recently, put the Eagles ahead in the first half before Gokana United restored parity.

Sunshine Stars right back Solomon Kwambe told Us that both teams played their best but the pitch did not allow the Eagles to express themselves very well.

"It was not a bad game for the two sides, but the poor state of the pitch didn't allow us to give our best, it affected our play.

In the same vein, Warri Wolves central defender Azubuike Egwekwe told us that the bad pitch saved the home team.

“The game was okay, but the pitch was so bad that we hardly played a good game. If the pitch were good, we would have won. Even the state Governor who watched the match complained about the pitch and said something must be done about it quickly," Egwuekwe added.
