2014 World Cup : FIFA maintains Cairo for Egypt Ghana return tie

The World Football governing body FIFA has
accepted Egypt’s assurances over security in
Cairo where the Pharaohs host Ghana in the
Ultimate round of qualifiers for the FIFA World
Cup, Brazil 2014.

According to weebly.com, FIFA said its decision is
based on guarantees from the Egyptian government
and the decision to allow Al Ahly play their Orange
CAF Champions League second leg final in the
city. It should be recalled that Ghana had earlier
requested for Cairo to be changed as venue for
their return leg 2014 World Cup playoff. In the first
leg, the Black Stars of Ghana crushed Egypt 6-1
Kumasi.
